I live in Columbus, OH and was Sports Editor for The Ohio State newspaper when Jeter was in Columbus. I bought some bats off of a Clippers employee, one being a Derek Jeter bat that just has his last name on the barrell, which I am told is a rookie bat. however, his name was spelled "Jetter" and I was told there were only two of these, as the other one was kept by the buy who sold me this one. Anyone know anything about this bat, if it's legit (I would assume it is since I know I received it not soon after Jeter went pro and also receives other game bats as well) but am not sure if it would be worth more or less than what his game bats sell for now. Any help would be awesome. Thanks!

Here are some photos of the bat. If anyone knows any details, that would be great! I know it may be hard to read, but I had a hard time capturing the name on such a dark bat...

If it's authentic, I would certainly add it to my collection. I would guesstimate a value of $1000.00.

Did Jeter wear #4 in the minors?

I can't remember to be honest what he wore with Columbus, but if not maybe he gave the bats to someone else to use? heck, i really know nothing about this one, but I got a few others like a Tom Brunansky who was always a favorite of mine from the same guy, but no one knew too much about this bat

This bat looks like it is from the 84-85 HB labeling period as there is no registered trademark after "LOUISVILLE SLUGGER" and from what i can make out of the center oval labeling size. In fact based on the foil stamping of the name JETTER it could be from 1985. I've seen many of these brown bats from the early to mid 80's. Derek Jeter was 10 to 11 years old during the labeling period of this bat as he was born in 1974.

Thanks for the info. There is a registered trademark after C2 next to the word genuine atop of the name and a 125 above Louisville Slugger in the oval with powerized and a R trademark barrel-side of the oval as well if that helps
