Take a look at the picture of him pointing. The bat has the same marks at the cup end of the cap and the top of the extra black tape seems to be present on the photo. What do you think?

hey rob,

looks similar but upon a closer examination, i don't think it's the same. just very similar. the marks have different shapes.

I'm pretty sure either gameused or jon8us has the Ortiz bat from 04 homerun derby photo-matched. I think it was labeled B9. Really cool bat. The Ortiz bat in this auction looks really sweet. I would think that if it can be dated from 2004 season and has the rare pro beech label someone would hit the bin or offer close to it. I see the seller has 9 offers on the bat. Seems their is a lot of interest in it. Maybe one of the Red Sox bat experts will weigh in on this one.

The bat I have is from the 2005 Home Run Derby, I posted a few pics.

Thats a nice Oriz bat on ebay. Ortiz taped his bats exactly like that during the 2004 season. The photos on the ebay listing showing Ortiz at the stadium are from the exhibition series between US MLB and Japanese professional baseball team, November 2004.
