What is the Item you Have Paid the Most $$$ For? AND Lets See it!

I just bought an NDSU championship ring and paid WAYYYYY more than I have for any other item. I will get a pic up and show you guys. What is everyone else's most expensive item and let's see it!

I have an Alfonso Soriano 2006 Nationals bat. it is PSA/DNA authenticated, and graded a 9.5 by PSA.

I paid 750.00 for this bat. To me, 750.00 is a TON of money!

I am very glad I bought it though....It is one of the center pieces of my Nat's collection.

I will post some pics of it a little later.:)

I agree that that is a lot of money. I paid $1,000 for a ring that has about $500 in 10k gold in it and cubic zirconias. It is a 1990 National Champions football ring from an NDSU player. They VERY hard to come by. It makes me sick to think I paid that much for it, but it is BEAUTIFUL! ;)

The teal jersey in this picture is inscribed "Game Used 9/22/97" and was worn in the first ever Monday Night game in Jacksonville. It was also Brunell's first game back after some had said he would miss at least 8 weeks with a knee injury, and he returned in week 3 for this game. I paid $1,000 for it, and would never sell it (well, I guess if somebody offered me CRAZY money for it, I might!).

Pics of my 750.00 Soriano bat. I realize there are a lot of Soriano bats on the market...I bet there are very few that grade a 9.5 out of 10, by PSA.

Great stuuf guys! The reality is if this item means that much to you, your going to keep it forever, so it's "value" shouldn't be an issue when purchasing.

You are 100% correct in my opinion. I would never sell mine! I can always earn more money, but some of these items may never surface again!

Just recently purchased a 2004 Phillies Jim Thome jersey for $1000, which is one of my top single purchases over 30 years. Honorable mentions would be a Ty Cobb GPC at $700, and a few very early pre-rookie/rookie Dave Kingman bats in the $600 range. Outside of this many bats fall into the category of $3-500 range including Mark McGwire's 88 and 89 WS bats and a Huntsville Stars jersey which I deem as valuable but I bought them so long ago that the price was not that much...

I thought maybe you were joking because that is a ball that should be in a museum. Nice find and BEAUTIFUL ball! I am interested to here the price tag though. ;)

My newest item. 2001 Barry's first Home Run of the record 2001 season(73HRs). Signed Barry L Bonds #459 04-02-2001. Originally sold at lelands for over 16k, lets just say I picked it up for about half that.

The priciest item in my collection is doubtless a game-used and signed Randy Johnson fielding glove...but I didn't pay a penny for it, as it was a Christmas gift a few years ago from my wonderful sister. I know from sneaking a peak at the Leland's auction where she got it that she paid almost five grand for it.

Another Baseball-related gift (from the same sister), though not, strictly speaking, game-used, is a uniform worn by Gena Davis in 'A League of Their Own', at $3000.

The costliest game-used item that I did have to pay for is a Randy Johnson 2001 World Series bat, for which I contributed $2500 to a certain bat boy's college fund (or whatever). Ironically, it only cost me $2.50 to get Randy to sign it...but that's a story in itself, and not a pretty one.

The most I have paid for an item in my collection is the 2002 Craig Biggio photomatched pinstripe jersey that was discussed earlier on the forum:

I collect football jerseys and game used bats. My best jersey is a beautiful 2004 Marshall Faulk Rams gamer with the 10 year patch. Also has the WETRAK tag which is great. My best bat is a 1990 George Brett gamer autographed with nice player traits. Got it from Andy Benish. It is one of the examples on his site that he uses as examples for Brett gamers. A close second is a 86-89 Robin Yount with perhaps some of the best game use and tar you could expect to find. But the Brett was a bit more expensive. I have to say I am in awe of some of the pieces from this forum. Great post.

That is a killer 01 Mac bat Carlie. I am still hoping at some point that you, Howard or Rob will find me or hook me up with someone selling a nice Mac Cards bat, uncracked and signed. Just this weekend hooked up Abe with his Gant bat. Somewhere down the line I am hoping a bat falls outta the sky to Bobby...

I am having difficulty with the pics but will post if asked, I would have to say my top three items would be my 1989-1990 Cal Ripken LS natural finish P72 that shows absolutely hammered use and is graded GU10 by John Taube. It is the only Ripken I have ever seen graded a 10. My next favorite is my Ripken Rochester Redwings P72 walker finish 1981 bat that is also hammered with use and graded A8.5 by MEARS.
My 3rd favorite is a recent pick-up of a 2001 final year P72 Ripken bat that was used by Cal up until the final week of his playing career and has a piece of tape on the barrel indicating this signed by Cal himself. The bat is hammered with use and cracked and is a real gem. Not the most expensive item in my collection but one of the very best.

One final item that I just had authenticated by MEARS is a pair of Ripken cleats that date to the 1982 season his rookie year that are signed by Cal and are absolutely hammered and worn out but are just incredible. They are the finest pair of Ripken cleats I have ever seen.

A few more of the 89-90 LS Ripken

Sorry, the GU 10 is actually even better because it is a LS model S188 which is a rather rare model at least by Ripken standards. Not his commonly used P72 that most people are familiar with.

This is a fun one :)

The trainer for the M's (Rick Griffith) donated a item that was sealed in a box for the 1997 M's and CFF Golf Tournement live auction. Lots of clues presented along the path of bids. In the end I paid $1500+ for Russ Davis's cast when he broke his ankle, it was signed :)

But it turned it fine, in the end Russ and Jay gave me autographed game jerseys to hang in my den along with the cast.....I still have all three and the memory to boot....but, needless to say I dont bid on items sealed in a box anymore!
