this ad shows a picture of a Bo Jackson bat:

specifically, the "BO16L" model LVS seen at the bottom of the ad. (i'm not sure what the "L" stands for). the bat has the team name, Kansas City Royals, under Bo's stamped signature. the part that confuses me about this bat is that i thought that LVS first began stamping team names on the barrell in 1991. Jackson didn't play any games for the Royals in 1991 (or afterwards). He signed with the White Sox in April 1991, played the entire season with them and never played for the Royals after 1990, yet that BO16L bat has ball marks all over it.

???

thanks,

rudy.

Bo was released by the Royals on 3/18/91, so it's certainly possible bats were made for him with "Kansas City Royals" under his name. He could have used these bats in spring training and/or taken the bats with him to Chicago and used them there after he signed on 4/3/91.

I saw something similar with Gary Gaetti -- it was a bat with his name and "Minnesota Twins" below it. Gary last played with Minnesota in 1990 and signed as a free agent with California on 1/23/91.

BTW, the "L" stands for "large knob," meaning the bat has a larger knob than normal for that model. You'll sometimes also see an "S" after the model number -- that designates it as having a smaller knob than normal for the model.

Most the orders start coming in the middle of January, though this past year we started in December of 06. Then it starts again for opening day. The orders then level out for the rest of the year then go down during the play off's and WS. Though the fall leagues will bring us up a bit.
