I originally bought the 2003, 2005 and 2006 from the NFL. They all had a PSA-DNA sticker in the neck. I did not bid on the 2004. This seller says it may have been used in 2005. WRONG. As easy as all 3 I bought were to photo match why does he have the 2005 pictures and the AMI ad, which was my jersey that was sold?

Attached are photos of the 2004 game vs the Jaguars. Also the collar tag on my 2006 which is like all the Charger jerseys that I have bought that were sold by the NFL.

I have killed a couple of manufactured jerseys in auctions by proving that I owned the one they were auctioning. The last auction company I contacted told me that they were not saying which game the jersey was used in so me owning one proved nothing. My response was, " they only wore them in one game per year". They said "OH, we will check with Lou and get back to you". They did pull it. I could pick out the made up jerseys easily by the shoulder area and the tail. We probably have educated them enough here on the real ones that they have done a good job here. You cannot duplicate the ownership history.

At this point I am not saying it is not the 2004 jersey. If you could get pictures of the stitching on the tail and inner shoulders it would help. I cannot imagine a dealer not saving the proof that it came from the NFL and leaving the PSA/DNA sticker on it.

I have the 2003 and 2005 throwbacks in my collection
Both have psa dna stickers from the nfl. It's nice that these things go from Roger's collection to mine. Thanks!

Does anyone know who bought the 2004 jersey?

Roger,

I agree, that if it came from the NFL Auctions, it should have some sort of documentation reflecting that...the seller informed me that the jersey only has a "letter" from the dealer he accquired it from...I have requested a copy of that letter to see who wrote it...

The nameplate on the Tomlinson being sold on ebay is higher than my 2005 posted above and this photo of my 2003

At one point I remember seeing a card with what I thought was a throwback jersey swatch. I called AMI and ask if they had sold my 2003 jersey to a card company to cut up. I had the 05 then. Victor said he did not remember. He called me back and said no it was sold to a individual, who I now know was Eric. Has anyone ever see a game used 2004 Tomlinson card? I did a quick search on Ebay with no results.

Another thought, the 2003 was a size 50. The 2005 & 06 are 48. Can anyone confirm the 2004 size?

Attached is the name plate on the 2006.

One more thing, the back numbers are closer together than all the real ones we have knowledge of. A reveiw of non throwbacks seem to be farther apart also. AND, this is still the best looking NFL jersey ever.

Attached are a couple of Getty photo of the back nameplate and numbers. They are both from the 2004 season. Placement seems to be fairly consistant.

Funny, he told me he didn't remember who he bought it from. He didn't mention a letter from a dealer. He said he bought it at a show.

So to recap, not saying it's not the real thing, but here's what we know

it's a 2004 tomlinson throwback jersey with no psa/dna sticker and no nfl auction provenance

The seller doesn't remember who he bought it from.

His buy it now price is less than the price that tomlinson jerseys go for

It reads 2004 on the label, but the seller says it might have been used in 2005

Also, according to this page, the 2004 throwback tomlinson jersey sold for $6776.67 in October 2004

The seller sent me pics of the year/size tag. The stitching is in white. The two tomlinson throwbacks that I have (from 2003, 2005) and 2 2004s of other players have blue stitching.

I wonder if he did indeed sell it or just pulled it. Seems like some red flags. Did he say if it showed any use? Fishy that he has pictures in the auction listing that aren't of the LT he is selling. How would you not remember who you bought it from. There has got to be some pictures or the game video out there with LT in this jersey somewhere. Would be nice to see the back and how the nameplate sits in a game photo. Really good work in this thread. How can you not like seeing Eric and Roger's LT throwbacks, those are some sweet jerseys in the hobby. Is the only LT throwback gamer not accounted for between you 2 from 2004?

It appears that the 2003-04 jerseys had no NFL shield on the collars and the 2005-06 did.

Something is not adding up with this seller....I asked several times for a copy of who wrote the COA and he never responded after this initial email...

"I just have a letter from a dealer. I was going to consign to mears, but thought I would try ebay first. Sorry, not interested in trades. I am looking to sell. Let me know if you would like to make an offer. Patrick"

Moreover, he told Eric and I different stories of where he got it and if it did originate from NFL auctions, why would their be no supporting documentation? Eric, nice catch on the neck swatch stitching...also the name plate stitching that appears above the neck swatch appears to be different as well. Eric, I notice that your jersey is tage "04-58"...is that a typo?

12 feedback, 0 as a seller. That alone is a HUGE red flag for a high ticket item.

If he used stolen pics for the LT I'll bet you can nail him on the Bush and Cutler as well.

Have to believe it's a scam.

The seller sent me many more pics of the LT. The photos don't appear to be stolen.

That 04-58 is a different jersey. It's a 2004 Jamal Williams. (blue thread, no shield)

Here we go, 16 up close photos of the Tomlinson throwback that was put up on ebay. Again, the seller doesn't recall who he bought it from. he said it was at a card show from a game used dealer.

Be your own authenticator. Observations? Besides the unusual stitching in the year tag and an NFL shield that should not be there, any other thoughts?

The tail elastic on all the Tomlinson jerseys I have owned are always sewn with a surger type stitch. The main difference in the 2005 and 2006 Tomlinson jersey is the elastic width. You can see the surger stitch well in the 2006 picture, the first picture.

The sleeve numbers are sewn different. Notice the surge stitch on the elastic in the sleeve and the shoulder lighting bolt panel also.

The partial yellow tag on the tail of the 2006 jersey is from the shoulder pads. A piece of that was also in the 2005 jersey. Bet theirs don't have that.:D

The Tomlinson jersey on Ebay show's the #21 (when turned inside out) on the sleeve only to have stitching in yellow, where Rogers' jersey has yellow and white stitching....Eric, what do your jerseys show?

Eric

I took a quick look this morning at my bolt throwbacks and here's the stitching story with the numbers.

When turned inside out if you look at the stitching in the shoulder numbers it's like this
2002 yellow stitching only
2003 yellow stitching only
2004 white and yellow stitching
2005 white and yellow stitching
2006 white and yellow stitching

Here are some pictures I found of LT wearing the powder blue throwback from 10/10/2004....

The Ebay Tomlinson appears to have the "correct" elastic waist band, but as Roger has previously posted, the Chargers DID NOT have the NFL Equipment shield on the collar....

RKGIBSON
10-02-2007, 07:50 PM
The elastic band in the tail is incorrect in several ways. If you look at the close up Eric posted, there is a single piece of light blue thread that is holding it in place. The original jerseys have the tails sewn with a surger machine. This creates a criss-cross pattern that has strength when stretched. That single peice of thread will break as soon as it is stretched. You can see the way they have the jersey rolled around and under the elastic which is different.

I do not like the stitch that is attaching the name plate either.
