my opinion would be Jim Brown...if there is a specific jersey I would guess it would be a Namath shirt that he wore in the Superbowl against the Colts

I would think Pat Tillman for modern jerseys:

His for vintage collectors Johnny Unitas seems to be the man:

Bronko Nagurski and Red Grange for those with more many than God...

Or this one:

I do think this one is probably one, if not, the top one for pure football fans. When I saw the picture I thought how damn cool it would be to have it...

I have to say I just don't get it. Are we saying this is the best jersey of all time????

Is it because of the movie?

Because he got sick and tragically passed too young?

I am willing to be swayed on this, but as of now I am just not sure I get it.

Personally, I would go for Don Hutson.

I don't think anyone was trying to sway you or change your opinion. I have never seen a Piccolo for sale, but I have seen a Hutson.

I went to a Strongsville, Ohio card show back in the late 90's mainly looking for vintage cards. As I was strolling from table to table I noticed a very familiar looking #32 vintage football jersey. Now this was before I really got into game used stuff. I knew whose jersey it was and I asked what the price was. The guy said it was indeed a Jim Brown game worn jersey from the 60's and the price was I believe $5000. After I let out a sigh of disappointment it was considerably more than the $200 I had in my pocket, I told the guy that was one of the coolest pieces I had ever seen before! If that were to happen today, I would have found a bank and gotten a loan asap and bought that beauty faster than Superman saving a damsel in distress. It was something I will never forget. That may have been the beginning of my now current addiction. Even though I probably will never own something of that magnitude, I truly enjoyed the pleasure of being inches away from something so spectacular. I have since been able to get close to Babe's jersey at the Atlantic City National a few years back and other incredible pieces throughout the years, but for some reason that Brown jersey was still very special to me. I guess this is a long winded story about what my vote would be.

Scott...incredible...even in the late 90's, if it truely was the real deal, would have been the steal of the century...i have a real good friend who used to collect game used stuff and now collects casino chips...he recently bought a old $5 chip from some casino on ebay for $15 K...he told me that there are only 6 known to exist...after the transaction the guy who sold it to my friend was in shock how much it sold for...why?...because he is a coin dealer and he has had it in his $10 box for the last year at his shop and at shows and noone has even batted an eye at it..it started off on ebay for $1

Lund,
It was almost 10 years ago and I can tell you that it was the real deal. I can't remember the story, but the dealer came upon it in a good way. That casino chip story is great. I love Vegas and the wife and I can't wait to get back there. Sounds like I can't start collecting chips....too expensive!lol

I'd love that Pat Tillman jersey. I'm an ASU alumni and like to follow other ASU alums professional careers and root for them. There has been a pair of game used Tillman cleats on EBAY on occasion that would be cool to have as well.

I don't think anyone was trying to sway you or change your opinion. I have never seen a Piccolo for sale, but I have seen a Hutson.

I've seen one Piccolo gamer in my life...it was part of a traveling NFL exhibit about 20 years ago, donated/loaned by an active collector of the era. It was pre-1969 white road durene gamer. No clue where it is now.

The Namath Jersey from SB III is on display at the Patriots Hall of Fame Museum. It has a photomatch newspaper framed next to it.

Robin Ventura thought he could kick Nolan Ryan's butt.
