No, I didn't get this in the auction, but one of the aucton regulars who knows I collect this kind of stuff brought it and sold it to me. I don't know the team, I am assuming it's a town team from maybe in Nebraska. btw it's a mirror, not a pinback.

Very cool Dan. When would you date it? It's a bit tought to make out the gear, but I was thinking 1910-1920.

I think mid teens is about right...you can't see it well from my pic, but there are automobiles in the background. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to find out what team this is...The guy I bought it from said he's had it so long that he doesn't even remember where he got it. I would say a pretty well established town team, probably an early Nebraska State League team.

Dan- Can you make out what it says on the front of the uniform? It looks like there is some lettering on the left breast.

Another question from your fellow bargain hunters Dan...how much? :D

He told me he wanted $8,000 for it, I offered him $75 and he accepted :D....He told me he didn't recall buying it, but he thinks he got it in a box of stuff that he paid a buck or so for many years ago. I wasn't even planning on attending the auction last night, but my brother called me and told me that Lyle has an old Baseball Mirror with the White Sox on it that he wanted to sell me....needless to say I was out the door and headed to the auction within minutes. A little disappointed to see that it wasn't the White Sox, but it's still a great little item.

I'll try and scan it tomorrow if I get some time so I can blow it up to look closer at it. My digital camera just doesn't take very good close up photos.

I'm more a bat and jersey guy, but seeing that old team image got me interested. I was wondering if you were familiar with this team from Seward, NE. I happened upon this page just a couple minutes ago and hope it at least gives you something to start from. Not sure that it is the same, but the uniforms are similar.

Dan- Based on the picture my guess would be 1930s. The cars (look like 1930s Model A Fords), the uniform style (collarless), and the dress style of the men in suits and hats all lead me to believe its 1930s.

Joe, If it's 1930's then I think it's very early 30's, but I agree the uniforms look to be from about that time period. And I think Seward might be a good guess on this as they are only about 30 miles from here. Thanks for the help guys.

Agreed Dan. That is a great Mirror.

BTW- How far are you from David City and Brainard NE? I have a few old uniforms from there. One of them is from the Lincoln Sporting Goods Co. Tag reads "Lincoln Sporting Goods Co. Lincoln, NE"

David City is about 60 miles from here...not sure off hand on Brainard, but I have heard of it. I've seen a few uniforms over the years with that Lincoln Sporting Goods tag....I live in Lincoln, but I don't know where it was located. Might be something worth investigating.
